Four properties in London have been named the most expensive homes in the world – with Buckingham Palace topping the list. The Royal residence is estimated to cost £1 billion and topped a list, which includes palaces in India, villas in France and mansions in Monaco. Buckingham Palace, official home to The Queen, was originally built as a private townhouse for the Duke of Buckingham in 1703 and has a whopping 775 rooms. A Kensington mansion owned by steel magnate Lakmishi Mittal, in a street nicknamed Billionaires Row, was the next London home to feature on the list. The 12 bedroom home, in Kensington Palace Gardens, has its own swimming pool and is estimated to be worth £140 million.Roman Abramovich’s home, also in Billionaires row, was listed as number nine.
